Sarfalik
Sarfalik is the Greenlandic word for a current spot, and there are an incredible number of them in Greenland. The tidal difference in Greenland can be up to 4–5 meters, and the entire coastline is filled with countless fjords and archipelagos, which together create perfect conditions for the formation of current spots. If you look at a map of any part of the country, you will see countless places bearing some form of the name Sarfalik, and often nearby you’ll find old settlements, villages, or other signs of human activity. In other words, a current spot is a large pantry, where the hunting opportunities and types of catch vary depending on the season. That’s why we chose the name Sarfalik Fisk og Skaldyr for a dining place that reflects the seasonal catch.
