I was glad to travel over 5000 km from Svalbard to Greenland with my son last month. I was invited onboard Ponant as part of the “Women of the Poles” initiative led by the French Le Cercle Polaire.
On the way we visited 15 places. One of them was Kujalleq Glacier, situated in Prince Christian Sound region, South Greenland.

Exploring Northeast Greenland felt like stepping onto another planet 😍 No roads, no cities, no people, no noise – just raw nature. Out here you truly understand what wild and untouched wilderness means.
Narsarsuaq is the gateway into south Greenland but there is little to see or do in this small settlement of 120 people. Most visitors just use it as a transit point for going elsewhere in south Greenland by boat or helicopter. There are just 2 options for accommodation. The Narsarsuaq Hotel, open all year around, is the only hotel and the largest building in the village. The bedrooms are in two long buildings that were previously USAF barracks. The building between them used to be a command and logistics hub for the former airbase but now provides a reception area, kiosk, restaurant, bar and lodge. Although built in the 1940s, the buildings are still in good condition. The bedrooms are rather utilitarian in style and the restaurant serves great food. The other option to stay is in the Narsarsuaq Youth Hostel (last image) which is only open in the summer months.
