Restaurant Sarfalik, located at the top floor of Hans Egede, is an intriguing venue featuring a brasserie based on the excellent produce of the season as delivered by our local suppliers. Inspired by French and Italian cuisines, we have created a brasserie with a cosy and relaxed atmosphere offering your taste buds exciting experiences without being excessively pricey.

The winebar is a part of the restaurant. You are always welcome to visit us for a glass of wine or even a quality bottle, whether you wish to dine or not. The view of the town, the inlet and the mountains is the perfect setting for a nice time with your colleagues, friends or a quiet drink on your own after a lovely day in Nuuk.

The bottles used for serving single glasses of wine are stored in wine stations from the American company NAPA Technology. We are therefore able to serve a single glass of wine without compromising the quality or the taste experience.

Sarfalik is the Greenlandic word for polynya, and the waters of Greenland have them in abundance. The tidal range in Greenland is about 4 to 5 metres, and the entire coastline comprises numerous inlets and bays which combined create the perfect setting for the creation of polynyas. If you look at a map of any part of the country, you will discover that numerous places are called sarfalik in one way or the other. Moreover, these places are often found near old settlements, villages or other signs of human activity. In other words, a polynya is one big larder where the hunt and catch opportunities and the type of catch depend on the time of the year. Therefore, we chose the name Sarfalik, a restaurant that reflects the catch of the season.
